Rory & Elliott’s Story
On 5 June 2024 our Uncle Matt’s World was rocked when our Auntie Lucy collapsed and died suddenly. Lucy was our smiley, happy Auntie and mother to our little cousin Kai (2). She was just 38 years old but she was also 37-weeks pregnant when she passed away so unexpectedly. Our baby cousin Lyra was born by emergency caesarean and resuscitated at home but sadly had been starved of oxygen for a long period and her short life ended less than five weeks later when she passed peacefully in her father’s arms at the Children’s Hospice South West at Charlton Farm.
Children’s Hospice South West provided incredible emotional and peaceful care for our Uncle Matt, our cousin Kai and for us as we all tried to come to terms with this brutal series of tragic events and we are proud to be able to do something positive in memory of Lucy and Lyra and to show our support for Matt and Kai. We want to raise more valuable funding that will support the staff and facilities that care for people going through the unimaginable pain of losing a child and to care for those children to have a peaceful and engaging environment when they are in greatest need.
We are taking part in a series of events over the coming months to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West, including:
Junior Great Bristol Run - 10th May
Hawkesbury Upton 5k - 14th June
Bristol to Bath Cycle Ride (Rory) - July
Kids Tough Mudder South West - 16th August
Junior Park Run Marathon Award (Elliott)
October Marathon Challenge (Elliott)
October Ultra Marathon Challenge (Rory)
December CHSW Santa Run - 7th December
Any support is hugely appreciated.
